Rowan Baker and Daniela Steiner donated a conservation restriction on 40 acres of woods and wetlands along March Road in Ashfield to the Franklin Land Trust at the end of 2019.
Rowan inherited the land from his mother who always hoped to build a small home. A 3 acre house area was kept for future plans. The property is defined by old stone walls, contains a small woodland pond, and an unnamed brook flowing into Drake Brook and is within the Deerfield River watershed. Building on wildlife corridors and creating large blocks of conserved land is a priority for FLT and the Baker land abuts over 200 acres of private land previously conserved with the trust.
